The quick answer

Digital Extremes says account linking selects a Primary Account whose progress overrides the other linked account. Linking is permanent. The older account-merging feature was retired on 17 January 2025.[1]

Understand the distinction

Cross-platform play and cross-platform save are different features. Playing a mission together does not merge inventories, and an old guide to merging should not be followed as though that option remains available.[1]

Suggested checklist

  1. Identify the account whose progress and inventory you intend to keep.[1]
  2. Read the current linking instructions and platform or purchase exceptions before confirming anything.[1]
  3. If uncertain which account is Primary, stop at review and ask official support before completing a permanent link.[1]

Limits and next steps

Only the Primary Account’s retained progress is available after linking; do not expect separate inventories to be combined by the retired merging process.[1]

Continue with Warframe first missions: movement, objectives and squad settings.
